On February 28, 2026, the MLG Multi-purpose Gymnasium became more than just a place for school activities. It became a space where students were introduced to an important step toward greater financial independence: learning how to open and manage a Land Bank of the Philippines account.

The activity focused on the implementation of Online Banking Application for students and the importance of having a bank account where financial support could be properly received. For many students, opening a bank account may seem like a simple process. However, for those experiencing it for the first time, understanding the requirements, procedures, and proper use of banking services can be a new and valuable experience.
Leading the discussion was Ma’am Angelie O. Yan, working as a Bank Teller of Landbank of the Philippines branched at Brgy. Western, Hilongos, Leyte, who guided the students through the process of opening a LandBank account. She explained the necessary procedures and helped students understand how the account would be used in connection with their financial assistance.
Beyond opening an account, the students were also introduced to the LandBank mobile application. The discussion showed how mobile banking can make financial transactions more convenient by allowing users to access their accounts through their phones and request Cash Withdrawals in a process of One-Time Password code. Students were given an overview of how to navigate the application and use its basic functions responsibly.
For the students, the activity was not simply about completing a requirement. It was also an opportunity to develop financial awareness and learn skills that can be useful beyond their years in school. Knowing how to manage an account, monitor transactions, and use digital banking services can help young people become more confident in handling their finances.
